Meet the Teacher

My name is Kristen Metevia and I am 27 years old.  This is my fifth year teaching at Madison Elementary and I love it!  I taught third grade for two years and I'm starting my third year in fifth grade.  My favorite thing about fifth grade is going to fifth grade camp!

I graduated from Eastern Michigan University in December of 2007 with a major in Elementary Education.  I have a major in math and a minor in reading.  I am currently taking classes through EMU for my master's degree in Educational Media and Technology.

I grew up in Walled Lake, Michigan.  My family still lives there and I love to go visit.  I have one sister, Sarah, who lives in Grand Rapids.  My mom and step-dad live in Walled Lake and my dad lives in Florida.  I have a chocolate lab named Paisley.  She's 3 years old and loves to play fetch.

My favorite part about being a teacher is watching my class realize their full potential.  I believe in each of my students and want to help them follow their dreams.  I strive for my classroom to become a second family for all of us.  I always knew I wanted to be a teacher, I just didn't know it could be this fun!
