Attention Astronauts!

Today in the computer lab, I'd like you to put on your astronaut gear and head up to space!  Below you will find several links to different sites about space exploration, designing parachutes, and information about planets.  Use the first half of the lab time to do some space exploration then leave a comment below about what you did and ONE FACT about what you learned.  Then, please continue working on your typing practice lessons and studying for the NWEA tests.  (Remember, our next test is later this month!  Practice, Practice, Practice!)

The Space Place   NASA has put together a bunch of games for kids just like you to learn about space. (Which is exactly what we will be studying this trimester. Wink, wink.) Brush up on what you already know about space and maybe learn something new with these games!

Space Treasure Hunt  The name says it all with this one. Have fun on a treasure hunt through outer space!

Design a Mars Parachute! This website lets you build a parachute and test it. This is similar to what we are doing in class with our aerospace engineering unit!

Mars Exploration  Check out Mars and use the information you find to help in our study of aerospace engineering. You may get ideas for your own spacecraft design!

Mars Tour See all the latest images of Mars and get close-ups of the surface of this celestial body (nice vocab word) as well as many other great images.

A parashute has to have STABILITY to fly or it will just flop around every where.

when you make a parachute you have to make sure it wont rip or drop faster than it is suppost to.

i learned that being an aerospace engineer is a hard job because of the "disighn your own parachute thing must be extremely hard compared to a computor game!by the way i figured out how to get past that game. :D

I think that I would not want to be the guy that had to go to an unknown p,lanet and explore when I don't know anything about. I think that it is a good idea to send rovers so if you don't know about the planet you send them so no one gets hurt trying to explore the new planet and look for what they are looking for. And they can do their jobs without getting hurt on the job.
